This industrial doctorate, developed by UOC and TERMCAT, investigates how artificial intelligence can improve automatic terminology extraction. The project analyses the reliability, robustness, consistency and quality of terminology extraction tools in Catalan, Spanish and English, particularly in arts, humanities and social sciences texts. It also identifies the most suitable methods for collecting terminology on a large scale and creating a multilingual knowledge base. The research has a direct application in TERMCAT’s work: expanding the Catalan terminology available in the Terminologia IATE dictionary and helping make scientific knowledge more accessible in Catalan.
